Having found considerable success and acclaim in a Northallerton restaurant, Peter and Angela Wood moved the Black Swan Inn, the popular traditional village local at Thornton-Le-Moor and oversaw a top notch, toe to toe refurbishment programme, adding a fine a la carte restaurant and creating Woody’s at the Black Swan.

Peter, a chef for over 30 years, is renowned for his cooking skills, and many customers regularly drive from miles around to eat at Woody’s. Peter and his team set great store with only the freshest ingredients, locally sourced as far as possible, and everything is prepared and cooked on the premises.

The extensive menu includes homemade classics like steak and mushroom pie and lasagne, quality locally sourced steaks, gammon and a range of mouth-watering contemporary dishes like grilled tuna steak on a bed of noodles with a lemon and tarragon sauce, so there really is something for everyone.

With John Smith’s cask and two other guest ales on tap, a full range of other drinks and an extensive wine list, this remains a superb place to meet for a drink and a chat, but those in the know take the time to relax and enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner.
