Description:
Thirsk is one of Yorkshire's most beautiful country courses, set between the North Yorkshire Moors and the Dales, with easy access by road or rail. Thirsk is a friendly course offering 14 days of top class racing in 2008, compact yet with excellent facilities throughout, and attracting good quality horses from all over the country.
The course is used solely for flat racing between April and September. It is made up of two sections, a straight course of 6 furlongs, with the winning post in front of the grandstand. There is also a left hand circuit, about one and a quarter miles in length which joins the straight course some three furlongs from home.
There's a great view of the whole course from the grandstands, almost entirely against a background of open countryside.
