Description:
Just 6 miles east of Thirsk, the Centre is an ideal place to find out why the North York Moors National Park is so special – as well as enjoy what the vet James Herriot described as “England’s finest view”.
With free admission, the interactive ‘Window on the Park’ exhibition helps visitors of all ages to understand the clues left behind by the landscape.
Nature lovers can get up close and personal with the Centre’s bird population via a feeding station with interactive camera; and during spring a live webcam provides stunning shots of nesting barn owls and kestrels.
The Centre is also a great starting place for exploring the Moors further – with walking and cycling trails for all ages and abilities, including a walk to the famous White Horse. The Moorsbus network of buses operates from the Centre taking visitors to the heart of the North York Moors (see also Facilities).
