This spacious guest house, home to Liz and Charles, offers comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation in Thirsk, the popular market town that was the inspiration for ‘Darrowby’ in James Herriot’s books.

Formerly graded a 4 star, silver award guest house by Visit Britain, Laburnum House offers quality bed and breakfast accommodation, with 3 comfortable, well equipped guest rooms offering views of the Hambleton Hills. Laburnum House can easily provide accommodation for couples, families and even small groups of walkers and cyclists looking to explore the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. The North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks are both nearby, as is the historic city of York, the spa town of Harrogate and the Yorkshire Coast.

The house is well furnished in a traditional style with several interesting antique pieces. The bright, airy guest lounge provides a pleasant place to relax in the evenings.

Laburnum House is ideally located for easy access to all of Thirsk’s visitor attractions. Thirsk market place is only a 10 minute walk away and offers a variety of restaurants and cafés, and the World of James Herriot museum is a short stroll away. For those interested in racing, Thirsk racecourse is only 10 minutes down the road. Private, off-street parking means guests can leave their cars in safety and venture out on foot, by bus, or on the train.
