Dales Countryside Museum Exhibition

Exhibition title: "Brigantia in the Dales". Quality are and design from Yorkshire craft workers. The Museum is open daily from 10am - 5pm. Free for children. Fully accessible by wheelchair. Pushchair-friendly, baby change facilities, toilets, shop, hands-on experiences, free exhibitions programme, research room. Displays in the former railway station and carriages. 'Players on the Road' (Grassington Players)

Venue: Addingham Memorial Hall. Starts 7.30pm. The 'Players on the Road' show is brought by members of Grassington Players and offers a varied evening of Keith Bromley's bitter-sweet monologues and duologues. Performed by players with a span of ages from teenagers to septuagenarians, the 'Talking Heads' style pieces are mixed to offer a rewarding blend of humour and dramatic content which never fail to touch the audience. Victorian players murder Hamlet (Grassington Festival)

Venue: Grassington Festival. Starting at 12.20pm and also showing at 2.30pm. It must be summer; Penny Plain Theatre Company is on the road again with its distinctive outdoor stage modelled on nineteenth century theatre booths. Now in their fourth year, the seasoned troupe have played next to loudspeakers, in muddy fields, in thunderstorms and heatwaves, but still - like their audiences - come back for more. Huby & Sutton Show

The 118th annual show will take place again this year in the spectacular parkland of Sutton Hall. Something for all the family. There will be a parade of Fox Hounds from the York & Ainsty South Hunt and a variety of trade stands for you to see. Extensive display of classic and vintage vehicles including agricultural vehicles. Various ring events throughout the day including various horse & pony classes, sheep-dog displays, carriage driving classes and lots more. For the children there's a great selection of funfair rides, Uncle Mal's Crazy World of Magic, mounted fancy dress and the gymkhana. Many side stalls to see too. If you don't have a dog to take part in the Dog Show, Agility Test or Terrier Racing, go along and watch from 2pm, as these are all very highly entertaining classes. On-site catering includes a real ale bar and a selection of food outlets serving hot and cold food, plus ice cream.

Borrowby Show (near Thirsk)

Borrowby's first show was held in 1949. It is a regular feature on the last Wednesday in July each year. Field classes cover most animals. Tent classes and exhibits range from cattle, sheep and farm produce through garden produce, flowers, cookery, wine, arts & crafts and children's competitions. Show jumping, gymkhana and a fancy dress parade too. Trade stands and many other attractions add further interest, and a dance is held in the evening in the marquee.
